RISE was one of the participants of the first science festival in Cyprus, the 1st Mediterranean Science Festival. It took place from 3rd to 6th of December 2015 in Limassol and it was organised by the educational organisation SciCo-Cyprus and the Cyprus Research Promotion Foundation, with the co-organization of the Cyprus Youth Organization. The event was very successful with 9300 visitors (5000 adults and 4300 children) participating in many interesting activities. In the festival there were 60 thematic booths, 30 inspiring presentations, 15 workshops and 30 labs where the visitors could participate and get in touch with applications of many science areas.
RISE set-up a booth with banners, leaflets and VR hardware, showing some recent research work of its partners-labs. On site there was an Oculus headset tethered to a pc running VR applications, three mobile VR headsets (cardboards) used with Android mobile phones showing VR applications and a Bublcam connected with a mobile phone in a VR headset. In addition, there were two laptops showing games developed in these labs and some videos of relevant research work. The booth of RISE was very well attended by visitors who showed great interest both in the technologies demonstrated but also in the potential offered by setting up the proposed research and innovation centre (RISE).
